Pizza delivery.. is it afun job?
Yes, pizza delivery is fun. It is a real good way to meet people as you work. You get to learn about other nearby places. You get to see how important pizza is to pizza lovers. You will learn to respect the pizza making industry and those whom you serve.
Remember, pizza delivery is only part of your job. You will also be called upon as a food prep., dish washer, customer service rep. and restaurant attendant.
You will need to be honest and able to count well. So, go for it!
Reply:Heck yeah it is. I work two jobs and my "second job" delivering pizzas is by far the best. Reason number one: Tips. On a good day/night, I can make more money at my "second job" per hour than I do at my normal job. You can generally get two or three dollars per delivery, depending on who you're delivering to and the amount of pizza, plus the company will reimburse you $1.25-$2 for gas depending on where you live. Reason number two: freedom! Your job will basically consist of making sure you have everything you need to take for your delivery (drinks, sides, condiments, credit card receipts, and of course the pizzas themselves), and then you just drive around getting paid for it, listening to whatever you want to listen to, doing whatever the heck you want as long as you get those pizzas delivered. You'll have some in-store time between deliveries and during slow periods where you'll probably clean, fold boxes, maybe cut pizzas, stuff like that. It's easy and low-stress, which is Reason Number Three.
Be warned, though, this is not a full-time job. You probably won't work more than 30 hours a week, and don't expect to get benefits. You're there for the money, period. Most people do this as a second job or as a part-time job while they're in school. Don't expect to make a career out of it unless you're planning on owning and/or managing a pizza place.
I hope this helps. I think it's a lot of fun and I'd encourage you to try it. And yeah, the thing about the insurance is true, but I think with Geico you can get that coverage and it doesn't cost too much more, so you'll be covered as long as you let them know when you're getting your quote online that you'll be using your vehicle for "business," which is what it will be considered. Anecdotally, though, I don't think anyone I work with has any sort of special "commercial" insurance, and they're all doing just fine.
Reply:Beware, if you drive your own car for a pizza delivery company and are involved in an accident while working, your personal insurance company may not cover you for the accident. It is called "business exclusion."
You would have to purchase a commercial policy, which is a lot more expensive.
I would not classify it as a "fun job."
Reply:no job is fun.
