Pizza delivery is actual physical work, and as soon as many of the people who get into it find that out, they either bail or remain at their jobs, creating more work for those of us who bother to work at it because we are forever correcting their mistakes and pulling their weight along with ours.
I have done yard work, carpentry work and custodial work related to my pizza delivery job. We're up all night cleaning ovens sometimes, and I am regularly sent to neighboring towns to either take food or pick it up from other stores. The other day, I took 25 runs during my regular shift, AND I went to the neighboring town an hour away in the middle of all of it.
So where do people get the idea that pizza delivery is not a real job?
If pizza delivery isn't considered a "real job," how come so many people have trouble handling it?
I caddied at a golf course back in the late 70's maybe....
I liked it.
I walked 36 holes a day with two golf bags....
Big Kangaroo Bags with full set of clubs and a couple of extras.
Guy in bar used to give me SH** about.
He was FAT and Pale and worked in store selling sheets and pillowcases.
I wasn't fat and pale.
And it turns out I made ALMOST as much money as he did.
And I got to meet interesting people.
I could NEVER envy somebody that worked in a store or in some cubicle.
Reply:People who look at jobs like that and say it's not Real Work鈩?are insecure and need people to look down on.
Pity them.
They are in desperate need of a Real Life鈩?
Reply:You go to work and then you come back the same day. Its more thean real its annoying. I want to deliver to all 52 states and enjoy the country. It's an f!'n real job alright! And if you don't do it. I'll make somebody do it!!!!!
I hope my spellings alright....
Reply:Ive done 32 runs in one night working 8 hours, averaged $19 an hour... I quit doing it because gas was so high, went to college graduated and now when i goto apply for an IT job they dont want to pay me what im worth, should i go back to pizza delivery at least I was my own boss doing it.
Pizza boys make their tips by the service they provide to customers, therefore its a "real job" (tips dont grow on trees)
Reply:who has problems delivering pizza?
Reply:idk but waitressing gets the same critisizm.
Reply:you are right. I delivered mail express to doors for a few weeks and it was hard work to find the address and get someone to sign for the pkg. I think if you could do 25 in a night, that's a great night. But, you might want to do something else with your life that has benefits and a regualr salary. find a vocation and build your own business.
Reply:the sad truth of the matter is that a lot of people don't consider anything a real job unless you work a white collar, corporate, 40 hour a week, 9 to 5, structured job.
it doesn't matter if you're delivering pizzas, waiting tables, folding shirts at the GAP or any other service industry job. people treat it like it's not real work.
Reply:It is real work.
But some people can't really see that.
All they see is the finished product and not the effort that went behind it.
Reply:Dude...you carry a box to a door. That's where they get the idea from.
