to start maternity leave early? i posted Qs earlier the baby dropped im 50% effaced and 32 weeks. i have a very physical job and my doctor refuses to write me an excuse note to get out of work now and start maternity leave. a lot of answeres here are writing that the job can make me have my little girl early. how come he wont write the note? should i find a new doc?
If physical job puts me at risk for premature delivery, how come doctor wotn write me excuse note ?
You would probably have a hard time finding a new doctor unless he is in the same office as your current one. They don't like seeing any new patients any later than 20 weeks usually. I would start by asking why he doesn't think you need to be excused from work. If you don't like his answer you really need to focus on getting your job to understand your circumstances. They would probably be able to give you some work that is a little less physical. My SIL went into the payroll devision of her job so as to stay off her feet. Other than that look into sick time, taking a leave (if it has to be unpaid but you can't afford it look into assistance like TANF through your local Department of Human Services) You really need about 3 more weeks for that baby to developed so take care of yourself.
Reply:I think your doctor should want to put you at least on reduced activity. I'm 30 weeks and have been on and off of limited bedrest and my doctors never once made an issue of completing disabiltiy paperwork. Make sure your doctor knows your work circumstance, not just the office staff. The standard is that they will only sign you out for leave 4 weeks before you deliver, but they should understant it is a physical job and may require special considerations. Consider taking sick time, too, if you have it.
Reply:well, if it were me i would go in and tell the doctor that you will sue if you deliver early because of the job and he didn't write you a note.
Reply:I wouldn't start looking for a new doc because you are already far along, unless he is not cooperating with you resting. But i would explain just how physical your job is and if he still doesn't want to help ask him to tell you why! Then it is time to start looking for another doc. My doc has been trying to get me out of work since i was 20 weeks and my job is not all that physical. I just left work to rest and i am 36 weeks. (my doc is happy to see me rest)-%26gt; something for you to think about!!!!
