In the absence of complications, what's an OB's job during delivery?

No foolin'. What's s/he likely to be doing while 'attending' a birth?

Get Paid.
Reply:Pretty much nothing, us nurses do most of the work! The OB's are just there for catching and cutting if needed.
Reply:Most likely you will not even see the OB until you are pushing. Nuses will attend you, be monitering you, checking your dilation, if you have an IV they will be checking if everything is ok there. Then, when it is time to push, they will help coach you and the OB will come in basically to catch the baby and perform an episiotemy if you need/want one.
