Hi
I am thinking of being a Pizza delivery driver and wanted to know some thing about the job from people who are/were drivers themselves. the car i currently have I plan to have for as long as it will go (I have a 2003 Hyundai Elantra) so I do not need to worry about its resale value. I can only work nights. I have some questions too.
What is it like?
What is the best company to work for? (I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico)
Aside from the driving/delivering, what else do you do?
Any other comments/suggestions I would appreciate very much. Thank you all.
Question about pizza delivery jobs?
Hmm....why would you want to do a pizza deliver, what about the manager, or the boss of a pizza company. You should set your goal bigger and further.
Reply:it sucks
Reply:i'm from south jersey and i'm not sure what chains are in your area
but i do know that pizza hut sucks you have to wash dishes and do prep work too. those are really your main jobs, with a little delivery on the side
are there papa johns's out your way
i know that it pretty nice working there
your only responsibility is to delver thats it
idk what its like to work at a smaller local pizza shop
i can only imagine that the management would be nicer, but youll also have to work harder too
here, the avg tip is about $2-$3 but ive gotten ten sometimes and also i've been told "keep the change" (67 cents, gee thanks)
usually the company pays you like minumum wage + tips + maybe 50 cents per delivery which will come to about 9-16 dollars an hour - not bad for just sitting in your car listening to music the whole time
PREPARE TO BECOME A MUSIC JUNKIE
you will listen to so much music id def get a zune or ipod or something
good luck
its a fun job def go through with it
yeah i have to agree with FTG. pizza places are great places to buy and sell pot
Reply:(1)
It's a stress full job with both the store and customers expecting speed at all times
(2)
I've worked for 3 major company's and they all suck
(3)
each job had different duties..folding boxes, washing dishes helping prepare, cook and package pizza, resupplying lines, sweeping mopping deposits
(4)
while delivering be care full and NEVER have too much money on you!! That is a must!! DON'T become a target for a robbery...it's not worth it! Make sure you have EXCELLENT Insurance on your car!
good luck!
Reply:It's easy work. You pick up orders, carry a cash bag for change, and deliver pizza. It does start to be a pain on your legs after a while though. Domino's is always busy.

Reply:i delivered pizzas in a small town in Michigan, and it was a pretty rich little place, so that helps with the tips. Also, me being a girl- i got bigger tips than the male drivers. The only down side is the price of gas, they gave us a dollar per delivery. So if we delivered two pizzas to two separate houses- even if it was one trip, we got two dollars for that. I made great tips but I also spent a ton on gas. Try to work for the most popular place, that way you will get more deliveries. also, find out who charges for deliver and who doesnt. Its better to work for the company that does not charge because people always assume that they are giving that money to you- which is not the case, so they tip less or not at all.
Reply:BECAREFUL!! MY parents worked in the hospital and had delivery guys come in that were beat up. Because they usally have money on them. and they would steal there cars. I had a friend whohadjob kept it then went to a delivery job and diddn';t like it. then went back to hios other job. Maybe you should try that. i have never done that.. SOrry to put a damper on your pizza spirts.
Have a nice day!!!
Reply:It's relatively fun. You get to be out on the road while others are doing.. whatever. (Bring an ipod and get an adapter, listen to your favorite music!)
Honestly, I preferred to deliver for Mom and Pop type of restaurants, I seemed to get tipped pretty damn well! (Anywhere from $5-$15 per delivery).
Pantry work. Prepping foods, folding boxes, maybe a few dishes.
Not trying to scare you here... BUT!
If you do take the job, make sure you feel safe! I had gone to some bad areas. Make sure to have a cell phone. (Not necessary, but I'm guilty of having carried a knife with me.)
Long story short, a friend of mine went on a delivery, got to the house and all lights were off. Called the house and nobody was there. Dark street, bushes on both sides, (someone was going to jump him!)
If you're not great with directions, it may not be the job for you.
Reply:Most of your co-workers will be stoners.
